Notes

Create and manage notes

Capture ideas, add images, and organise your notes with markdown formatting, tags, and lists.

Creating a note

  1. Open the Notes tab and tap New note (the + button, bottom right). A blank note opens straight away.
  2. Enter a title and start writing.
  3. Tap Finish when you're done, or just go back. Your note saves automatically.

You can also create notes directly from within a list, or using the Android home screen widget.

Writing with markdown

Notes support markdown formatting, so you can add structure and emphasis to your writing. New notes open in edit mode, where you see the raw markdown. To edit a note you are viewing, tap the Edit button (the pencil, bottom right). To go back to the formatted view, tap Finish in the toolbar at the bottom.

Common markdown you can use:

  • **bold** for bold text
  • *italic* for italic text
  • # Heading for headings
  • - item for bullet lists
  • 1. item for numbered lists

Adding images

Once you've started writing a note, tap the photo icon in the toolbar at the bottom, then choose Take a photo or Choose existing photos. You can add multiple images, each under 10 MB. Images appear as thumbnails in the note and are displayed in full when tapped.

In the mobile app, free users can upload up to 100 MB of photos in total. With PRO you get 250 MB of photo uploads every month, and the allowance resets each month.

Adding a location

While you're editing a note, tap the location icon in the toolbar at the bottom to tag your note with a place. The location is displayed with an address and a map preview on the note, which is helpful for travel notes, meeting notes, or anything tied to a specific spot.

Location tagging is a PRO feature.

Auto-save

Notes are saved automatically as you type, with a short delay to avoid saving every keystroke. You may briefly see Saving... at the bottom of the note.

If you navigate away while editing, your changes are saved before you leave.

Browsing your notes

Open the Notes tab to see all your notes displayed in a visual masonry grid. Each note card shows:

  • The first image as a thumbnail (if one is attached).
  • The note title (or "Untitled note" if none is set).
  • A three-line preview of the content.
  • Location address (if set).
  • Tag chips.

Searching and filtering

  • Search — Type in the search bar to find notes by title or content. Search is case-insensitive and updates in real time.
  • Filter by list — Show only notes belonging to a specific list.
  • Filter by tags — Show only notes with specific tags.
  • Sort — Order notes by Recently updated (the default), Recently created or Title.

Archiving notes

When you no longer need a note in your active view but want to keep it, you can archive it. Archived notes are read-only until you unarchive them. You will find them under the Archived filter on the Notes tab, next to Active. The filter appears once you have at least one archived note.

To archive a note, open it, tap the menu button (three dots, top right), then tap Archive and confirm. To bring it back, select the Archived filter, open the note, tap the menu button, then tap Unarchive and confirm.

Assigning notes to lists

Notes can belong to a list, just like tasks. Open a note (tap Edit first if you're viewing it), tap the Add to list chip under the title (it shows the list's name once one is set), and choose a list and then a section. This keeps related notes and tasks together in one place.
