Tasks

Use recurring tasks

Set up tasks that repeat on a schedule — daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly.

What are recurring tasks?

Recurring tasks automatically create a new occurrence each time you complete the current one. They are ideal for habits, routines, and anything that happens on a regular schedule — like a weekly review, a monthly report, or a daily workout.

Setting up recurrence

  1. Tap a task to open it.
  2. Tap Repeat.
  3. Choose a repeat pattern:
    • Daily — Every day, or every n days.
    • Weekly — Every week, or every n weeks (optionally on specific days).
    • Monthly — Every month, or every n months.
    • Yearly — Every year, or every n years.

Your task needs a due date before you can set a repeat pattern. If you have not added one yet, you will be prompted to do so.

Repeat modes

When you set up recurrence, you also choose how the next due date is calculated:

  • From due date — The next occurrence is based on the original due date. For example, a task due every Monday will always fall on a Monday, regardless of when you complete it.
  • From completion date — The next occurrence is based on when you actually completed the task. This is useful for tasks where the interval between completions matters more than a fixed schedule.

How it works

  1. You complete a recurring task by tapping the circle next to it.
  2. The completed task is marked as done.
  3. A new task is automatically created with the next due date, based on the repeat pattern and mode you chose.

The new task inherits all the details of the original — title, description, reminders, tags, list, and subtasks — so you do not need to set it up again.

Removing recurrence

To stop a task from repeating, tap the task to open it, tap Repeat, and select None. The current task will remain, but no new occurrences will be created when you complete it.
