Set due dates and reminders
Learn how to schedule your tasks with due dates and get reminded at exactly the right time.
Setting a due date
- Tap a task to open it.
- Tap the Due date field.
- Choose a date from the calendar picker, or select a quick option such as Today, Tomorrow, or Next week.
- The due date is saved automatically.
Tasks are grouped by their due date when browsing, so you can quickly see what is coming up:
- Past — Overdue tasks.
- Today — Due today.
- This week — Due in the next seven days.
- Soon — Due within two weeks.
- Later — Due beyond two weeks.
- Someday — No due date set.
Adding a reminder
Reminders send you a notification so you never miss a task. You can add one or more reminders to any task.
- Tap a task to open it.
- Tap Add reminder.
- Choose the type of reminder:
- Absolute — Pick a specific date and time to be notified.
- Relative — Choose a time offset before the due date or start date (e.g. 1 hour before, 1 day before).
Quick time presets
When choosing a time for an absolute reminder, you can pick from these presets:
- Morning — 8:00 AM
- Afternoon — 1:00 PM
- Evening — 6:00 PM
- Night — 9:00 PM
Or tap Custom to choose any time.
Snoozing a reminder
When a reminder notification appears, you can snooze it for later:
- 1 hour — Reschedules the reminder to one hour from now.
- 3 hours — Reschedules the reminder to three hours from now.
- Tomorrow — Reschedules the reminder to the same time tomorrow.
Start dates
A start date is different from a due date — it marks when you plan to begin working on a task. Start dates are used by the planning feature to schedule tasks into time-of-day slots.
- Tap a task to open it.
- Tap Start date and choose a date and time.
Relative reminders can be set against either the due date or the start date, depending on which makes more sense for your workflow.
Removing a due date or reminder
To remove a due date, tap the Due date field and clear the selection. To remove a reminder, tap the reminder and choose Delete.
