Tasks

Use recurring tasks

Set up tasks that repeat on a schedule — daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly.

What are recurring tasks?

Recurring tasks automatically create a new occurrence each time you complete the current one, until the repeat ends. They are ideal for habits, routines, and anything that happens on a regular schedule — like a weekly review, a monthly report, or a daily workout.

Setting up recurrence

  1. Tap a task to open it.
  2. Tap Repeat. Subtasks cannot repeat, so you will only see this on a main task.
  3. Choose a repeat pattern:
    • Daily — Every day, or every n days.
    • Weekly — Every week, or every n weeks (optionally on specific days).
    • Monthly — Every month, or every n months.
    • Yearly — Every year, or every n years.

On the free plan, a task repeats every day, week, month or year. Repeating every n days, weeks, months or years, and choosing specific days or months, are part of PRO: open Customise repeat and use the Every row to pick Two days, Two weeks and so on, or Custom for up to 99. On the free plan these rows show a PRO badge.

By default a repeat never ends. To have it stop on its own, open Customise repeat and set Ending to After occurring a number of times, or to On date.

Your task does not need a due date before you set a repeat pattern. If it has none, we set one for you when you tap Done: today, or for weekly and yearly repeats, the next day or month that matches your pattern.

When the next occurrence is due

The next due date always follows your schedule, counted from the previous due date rather than the day you complete the task. For example, a task due every Monday will always fall on a Monday, regardless of when you complete it. This also means that if you complete a task late, the next occurrence can already be overdue.

How it works

  1. You complete a recurring task by tapping the circle next to it.
  2. The completed task is marked as done and no longer repeats.
  3. A new task is automatically created with the next due date, based on the repeat pattern you chose. If the repeat has reached its end, no new task is created.

The new task inherits all the details of the original — title, description, reminders, tags, list, and subtasks — so you do not need to set it up again.

Removing recurrence

To stop a task from repeating, tap the task to open it, tap Repeat, and then tap Clear at the bottom of the sheet. The current task will remain, but no new occurrences will be created when you complete it.
